My 2 month baby has White mark on tongue. Back

Hello my baby boy is just 2 months and he is suffering from common cold. It has been more than 1 week. What shall I do? And another problem is that he has a white, milk like layer in his tongue. Sometime he coughs hard and sometime makes different sound while coughing. I have dog in my house so can it be due to the dog’s hair in my baby’s mouth. I am worried that he has some of the dog’s hair in his mouth. He always keeps his hand in his mouth. If it is due to the dog’s hair can you please tell me what are the signs to confirm it and what to do to avoid it in future.

In 10% of cases, common cold may last for 2weeks.However, in order to see if everything is fine see the pediatrician.

The white in your baby’s tongue can be two things: First it can only be layer of milk; secondly it can be fungal infection. The method to differentiate it that if it is layer of milk it will go away if u clean with soaked handkerchief but if it’s fungal it won’t go. Fungal needs treatment.

Most of the child does make dry cough sound (khak khak). It is to be worried if he frequently does it. In such case better see a pediatrician. And like you said it could be the due to dog’s hair at your child’s mouth or your baby may be allergic to dog’s hair. So keep your child away from dog as much as possible and cloths that pick up dust.
