Hello Namaste, I have a 10 month old baby (DOB 2073-10-29) and he seems to have problem in breathing because he makes sounds like “Ghyar Ghyar” during breathing. In past 2 months, 2 treatments were done in this regard. The doctor said that there is no infection but the breathing pipe seems to shrink from time to time. He also added that this (difficulty in breathing) should not occur more than 3 times in a year. My baby is alright now but it still worries me. What kind of problem is this and what can I do to get rid of it?

In medical terms, this problem is termed as "Reactive Airway Disease". If this problem occurs frequently then it will be converted into Bronchial Asthma of Childhood or Child Asthma and it should be treated as Asthma. This problem occurs due to a virus and we doctor term this as "Duplicate Asthma" because as the child grows up this asthma will disappear. Around the age of 5 - 6 years old, it would be completely gone.

But during this, you need to keep your child safe from dust and smoke. Keep your child away from smokers, cockroach and mosquitos. Take good care of the carpet rug which catches dust, get rid of them if you have one. And during these period, your child will start noisy breathing/wheezing if he catches cold and cough. So it is advised to get "Seasonal Flu Vaccine" also. In doing above mentioned things i think wheezing can be stopped.
