My baby has constipation problem since 11 months. Back

My Baby has constipation since he was 6 months old. Now he is 17 months old, still constipation exists. Since last three months we have been giving "Smulax". He is still breastfeeding, and we are giving him vegetables like broccoli and pumpkins and daily half cup of apple juice. Still no improvement. Please help me to make my baby free from constipation. Troubled mother.

Constipation in children is generally because of food habit and other common reason for constipation that need to be tested is hypothyroidism. However, in hypothyroidism child’s development is not per their age. What you can do for now is do Thyroid function test to rule out hypothyroidism. If it’s normal then, you needn’t worry. Focus on his food habit, give him plenty of fluids, high fiber diet and less of junk foods.
